Irrational thought a.k.a false beliefs, misbeliefs, dysfunctional thinking, cognitive distortions, unrealistic thinking, unrealistic beliefs, inaccurate thinking, or simply lies.
These are thinking about oneself, others, and the world around that is inconsistent with reality and truth.
When you have a troubling thought, ask yourself these four questions:
- Does it hold TRUE?
- Does it nurture ME personally?
- Does it nurture my interpersonal RELATIONSHIP with others?
- Does it nurture my personal GOALS?
If you answer NO to at least three out of the four questions, you can dismiss the thought as irrational.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Prov 23:7
